Chelsea vs BATE Borisov : The Europa League Chelsea will look to make it three wins from three matches in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday when they host BATE Borisov at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea welcome Belarusian club BATE Borisov to Stamford Bridge on Thursday night to play them in a Europa League Group L encounter.

As they prepare to play BATE Borisov, we have picked the best Chelsea XI to take the field on Thursday night. They will line up in a 4-3-3 formation. After two matches played, and two narrow yet at times dominant 1-0 victories, against PAOK and Vidi FC, Chelsea sit atop Group L of the Europa League. With another victory, the Blues could just about wrap up the group stage, and have one foot in the knockout rounds already.

Chelsea team news: Eden Hazard is out with a sore back, thanks to an unpunished scissor tackle by Ashley Young (thanks, Mike Dean). Sarri’s only hoping to have him back for the weekend. Ethan Ampadu is also out, still nursing the knee injury he picked up while playing for Wales.

BATE Borisov team news: This is BATE’s fourth time in the Europa League group stage and their second straight. They failed in Champions League qualifying, a pair of wins over HJK Helsinki and Qarabağ offset by losses in both legs against PSV Eindhoven (2-3 at home followed by 0-3 away). Last season they finished bottom of their Europa League group, garnering just five points from six matches against Crvena Zvezda, Arsenal and Köln.

Alyaksey Baha has been their head coach only since June, but he served the previous seven seasons as assistant. Baha was promoted to replace Oleg Dulub, who was sacked after just 150 days in charge. Dulub, who had been “mired” in poor results (just 1 win in 4 in all competitions for the powerhouse club) was the first, and as it turned out,

Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern

Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern: Georgia Southern Eagles host the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. ET. Both are undefeated in conference play and coming off strong wins: The Eagles crushed New Mexico State by 17 and the Mountaineers slipped past Louisiana 27-17. Appalachian State opened as an 11.5-point favorite and now is laying 10. The over-under, which opened at 49, is 47.5 in the latest Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern odds. Before you make any Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern picks, check out what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern Live

Appalachian State vs Georgia Southern Live

The model made several huge calls against the spread last week, including nailing LSU (-6) over Mississippi State, Washington State (-3) over Oregon and Alabama (-29.5) over Tennessee. And when it comes to top-rated picks against the spread, it finished Week 8 on a strong 5-1 run. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, the model has simulated Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern 10,000 times. We can tell you it’s leaning over, but it has also produced a strong against-the-spread pick that hits nearly 65 percent of the time. You can only see it.

The model has factored in that Appalachian State’s offense has been on fire all season, averaging an extraordinary 41.5 points. Quarterback Zac Thomas has been effective this season, throwing for 1,146 yards and 11 touchdowns against only four interceptions. The sophomore is also third on the team in rushing yards with 276 and has found pay dirt six times with his legs. His main go-to guy is receiver Corey Sutton, who’s notching a whopping 21.5 yards per reception.

But the Mountaineers’ ferocious, unrelenting ground attack is what propels their offense. Averaging 264 rushing yards as a team, Appalachian State nets 6.3 yards per carry. Over six games, it has 18 rushing touchdowns. Running backs Darrynton Evans (three touchdowns) and Jalin Moore (six) have half of those ground scores and at least 400 rushing yards apiece.

But just because Appalachian State has plenty of firepower doesn’t mean it’ll cover Thursday.

Eagles quarterback Shai Werts has only thrown for 491 yards and four scores, but has yet to toss a pick. He’s also the team’s leading rusher with 542 yards and nine touchdowns. The 5-foot-11 sophomore is deceptively quick and sturdily built. Linemen trying to tackle him in the open field one-on-one are toast as he often wends his way into opposing secondaries.

Keeping the heat off Werts is a heavy-duty, ground-and-pound rushing attack that is racking up 276 yards per game, 12 more than Appalachian State. Running back Wesley Fields trails only Werts in rushing yardage with 472 and four touchdowns. Spelling Fields is Monteo Garrett, who has four scores on 344 yards.

Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech

Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech: The Virginia Tech Hokies will attempt to stay in command of the ACC Coastal Division when they host persistent nemesis Georgia Tech on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Hunt is the founder and CEO of Football Gameplan, which has been supplying analysis of all levels of football since 2007. The former college football running back joined SportsLine in 2016 and has provided his followers with winning seasons in college and pro football.

Hunt is having another solid season with his point-spread picks for SportsLine members and has been especially zeroed in on these programs. Over the past two seasons, Hunt has a record of 7-1 on spread picks involving the Yellow Jackets or Hokies, which includes an amazing 5-0 mark on Georgia Tech.

Just two weeks ago, Hunt advised SportsLine members that Duke’s underrated defense would provide problems for Georgia Tech’s triple-option attack. He recommended backing the Blue Devils, who won outright 28-14, as three-point underdogs. Anyone who followed Hunt’s advice booked an easy winner.

Now, Hunt has scrutinized Yellow Jackets vs. Hokies from every possible angle to reveal a strong point-spread pick that he’s sharing only.

Hunt knows the Yellow Jackets should be in desperation mode as they attempt to finish strong in a season that has been marked by misfortune and inconsistent play. They dropped competitive games against Pittsburgh and South Florida, but have been hampered by a defense that has allowed 49 points twice in ACC play. They also have dealt with crippling injuries to key players on both sides of the ball.

Even so, the Yellow Jackets (3-4) continue to befuddle opponents with their option attack and have scored more than 60 points in their past two wins. They also have dominated this series of late, winning three of the past four and two straight against Virginia Tech.

But that doesn’t mean they will cover again against a Hokies club that has managed to remain in control of the Coastal Division despite losing star quarterback Josh Jackson to a leg injury.

Kansas transfer Ryan Willis has filled in admirably, showing an accurate arm and the ability to make plays with his legs. The Hokies have won two of the three games started by Willis, with the loss coming to playoff contender Notre Dame.

Toledo vs Western Michigan

Toledo vs Western Michigan: Western Michigan vs. Toledo odds, the Broncos are 6.5-point favorites at home, with the total set at 68 for the 7 p.m. ET kickoff. With two of the most successful MAC teams of the past several years facing off, you’ll want to see what SportsLine’s advanced computer model says before you make any Western Michigan vs. Toledo picks and predictions.

Toledo vs Western Michigan Live

Toledo vs Western Michigan

The model made some huge calls against the spread in Week 8, including nailing LSU (-6) over Mississippi State, Washington State (-3) over Oregon and Alabama (-29.5) over Tennessee. And when it comes to top-rated picks against the spread, it finished Week 8 on a strong 5-1 run. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, the model has simulated Toledo vs. Western Michigan 10,000 times. We can tell you it says the over hits in 55 percent of simulations, but it has also locked in a spread pick that cashes almost 60 percent of the time. You can only see that one at SportsLine.

The model knows Western Michigan’s biggest advantage should be its offensive versatility. The Broncos have gone over 500 yards in five of their eight games this season, and in four of those contests they’ve had at least 200 yards both rushing and passing.

Against a Toledo defense that has given up nearly 270 yards per game through the air and nearly 190 on the ground, that should mean Western Michigan can control the pacing of the game offensively.

However, Western Michigan’s efficient offense doesn’t guarantee a cover against the Rockets.

Western Michigan’s defense was extremely weak against the run in losses to Syracuse and Michigan to begin their season, giving up 642 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in those game. Meanwhile, Toledo’s offense has rushed for over 240 yards per game and 11 rushing touchdowns in their three wins this season.

Even with a 1-2 record in league play, that success on the ground has also carried over to MACtion. Toledo is averaging 225 yards rushing in conference and if the Rockets can establish their ground game against Western Michigan, they have the ability to make the 6.5-point spread feel much smaller.

Ball State vs Ohio

Ball State vs Ohio: MAC play between Ohio and visiting Ball State. With Ohio at 4-3 and Ball State at 3-5, both teams need to rack up wins in order to keep bowl eligibility within sight. The Bobcats are 10.5-point home favorites with the total at 64 in the latest Ohio vs. Ball State odds. Before you try locking in your Ohio vs. Ball State picks and predictions, you’ll need to see what SportsLine’s advanced computer model is saying.

Ball State vs Ohio Live

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS game 10,000 times, and those who have followed it have seen massive returns. Over the past three years, this proprietary computer model has generated a jaw-dropping $4,210 profit for $100 bettors on its top-rated point-spread picks.

The model made some huge calls against the spread last week, including nailing LSU (-6) over Mississippi State, Washington State (-3) over Oregon and Alabama (-29.5) over Tennessee. And when it comes to top-rated picks against the spread, it finished Week 8 on a strong 5-1 run. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, the model has simulated every possible play for Ohio vs. Ball State. The results are in with a strong against-the-spread pick that’s hitting nearly 70 percent of the time. You can only see it at SportsLine.

The model knows Ohio will need to establish itself on the ground if it’s going to cover. The Bobcats are 2-1 against the spread as favorites in conference play and in their two covers they averaged 393 yards rushing with seven touchdowns on the ground.

To cover against Ball State, they’ll need to get their three-headed monster going early. Running backs A.J. Ouellette and Maleek Irons have combined with quarterback Nathan Rourke for 1,340 yards and 13 touchdowns, with every player rushing for at least 400 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Just because Ohio can run the ball doesn’t mean it’ll cover Thursday.

Ball State has proven itself in a tight loss at Notre Dame and in another one-possession loss to Northern Illinois, which is undefeated in MAC play. The Cardinals can be prolific offensively, averaging nearly 440 yards this season and 540 in their three wins.

Quarterback Riley Neal leads that charge for the Cardinals, with nearly 2,200 yards of total offense and 15 total touchdowns on the season. And Ball State’s three wins all have one thing in common: Neal has accounted for at least three total touchdowns in each of them.

West Virginia vs Baylor

An important Big 12 battle headlines the Week 9 college football schedule on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET when the Baylor Bears visit the West Virginia Mountaineers. West Virginia hopes to bounce back from its first loss of the season, while rebuilding Baylor could get a signature win by pulling the upset. Both teams come off a bye week with significant goals in sight. West Virginia is still fighting for a potential Big 12 title-game berth, while Baylor is working toward becoming bowl-eligible. The Mountaineers are 13.5-point sportsbook favorites and the over-under for total points scored is 66 in the latest West Virginia vs. Baylor odds. Before you make any West Virginia vs. Baylor picks, check out what SportsLine senior analyst Josh Nagel has to say.

A Nevada-based expert with 20 years of experience in the sports wagering industry, Nagel specializes in handicapping college football. He’s having another solid season for SportsLine members, hitting on 60 percent of his spread selections. Moreover, he has had a sharp eye for handicapping these clubs, with a record of 10-3 on against-the-spread picks involving either Baylor or West Virginia. This run includes a remarkable 6-0 record on Baylor games.

Just two weeks ago, Nagel advised SportsLine members that Baylor was likely to catch Texas in a letdown spot following the Longhorns’ upset of Oklahoma. He recommended backing Baylor as a two-touchdown underdog and, sure enough, the Bears pushed Texas to the wire in a 23-17 loss. Anyone who followed Nagel’s advice picked up another easy winner.

Now, Nagel has scrutinized West Virginia vs. Baylor from every possible angle to reveal a strong point-spread pick that he’s sharing only at SportsLine.

He knows high-powered West Virginia (5-1) rolled through its first five games with an average margin of victory of 23 points. But two weeks ago, it ran into an Iowa State club that has developed a habit of playing spoiler to playoff-contending Big 12 opponents. The Cyclones dominated in the 30-14 victory. The Mountaineers were held to 152 total yards and went scoreless in the second half.

Even so, Heisman candidate Will Grier leads an offense that is averaging 37 points and 320.5 passing yards. The defense also has been stout, allowing just 20.5 points per contest. In last year’s 38-36 win over the Bears, Grier threw for 375 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions as the Mountaineers racked up 493 yards of total offense.

But that doesn’t mean West Virginia is destined to cover against a Baylor team that is making strides in its second season under Matt Rhule.

The Bears (4-3) followed an impressive win over Kansas State with a hard-fought effort on the road against conference-leading Texas. They held the Longhorns scoreless in the second half while coming up just short on a rally from a 13-point deficit. Tennessee transfer Jalen Hurd scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to make it a one-score game in the fourth quarter.

The Bears were in position to win despite 10 penalties and allowing Texas to rush for 170 yards. Quarterback Charlie Brewer had a solid game with 240 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Thursday Night Football 2018 Live

On Thursday Night Football , the Broncos went into Arizona, jumped out to a 14-0 lead in less than seven minutes, which grew into a 28-3 lead in less than 16 minutes, and coasted to a dominant 45-10 blowout that halted their losing streak at four games, improved their record to 3-4, and dropped the Cardinals to 1-6. In a game between two teams trending in the wrong direction and two coaches under intense scrutiny, it was the Broncos who emerged with a feel-good win, Joseph who acquired some valuable job security, the Cardinals who got hit with yet another blow in a season full of lowlights, and Steve Wilks who is suddenly on notice.Thursday Night Football

The game was over. At halftime, the Broncos were winning 35-3 and out-gaining the Cardinals by 155 yards even though the play distribution was nearly even (33 to 31 in favor of Denver). In the second half, the blowout continued. It’s really not worth recapping.

They began the game by calling for a Johnson run up the middle into an eight-man box, which predictably picked up no yards. Before second down, they burned a timeout. On second down, after the timeout, Rosen’s pass got tipped at the line of scrimmage and landed in the arms of Davis, who returned his first career interception for a touchdown. On the extra point that gave the Broncos a 7-0 lead less than a minute into the game, the Cardinals lined up offside.

Yes, the Cardinals might just be the frontrunners to wind up with the first-overall pick in next year’s draft. Their only win of the season came against the Jimmy Garoppolo-less 49ers. Their offensive coaching staff can’t figure out how to use one of the sport’s most versatile playmakers. Their defense is solid at best, but as Thursday night demonstrated, they’re not always at their best. The offense can’t convert a third down.

A pair of 4-3 NFL teams will take the field Thursday night in Houston as the Texans host the Dolphins. The Texans have dominated this series, winning seven of the eight all-time meetings, although Miami did take the last one in 2015.

The Dolphins are a hard team to figure out. They started out the season 3-0 with wins over the Titans, Jets and Raiders. After that, Miami lost three of their next four as the schedule got tougher and they started to play more road games. The team is coming off a 32-21 loss at home to Detroit as Brock Osweiler started once again. Osweiler couldn’t build off his really good game against the Bears two weeks ago. The defense has been up and down this season as well. They’ve held four teams under 300 passing yards while the other three times teams have found success through the air.

Houston has been quite the opposite as they started out the year 0-3 before going on their current four-game win streak. Deshaun Watson has cooled off a bit after a hot stretch toward the end of September. The offense has been underwhelming the last three weeks, but it hasn’t mattered with the defense doing its job. J.J. Watt’s been healthy and making an impact despite the lack of a ton of statistics. Four teams have thrown for less than 200 yards against the Texans secondary, and the squad is finally playing like the team many thought they would be before the year began.

This one feels like a bit of a mismatch despite both squads having the same record. As illustrated above, they got there in two completely different ways.

The Houston Texans (4-3) will take on the Miami Dolphins (4-3) at home in Week 8 on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff at NRG Stadium is set for 7:20 p.m. CT on FOX / NFL Network, Westwood One (National Radio), SportsRadio610 (610 AM, 100.3 FM), Mega 101 FM (101.1 FM) and Amazon Prime Video. The Texans will be celebrating Homecoming presented by Palais Royal and donning their color rush uniforms.

Houston is coming off a 20-7 road victory over Jacksonville in Week 7. The Texans have won four games in a row for the first time since Weeks 8-12 of the 2015 season and sit in first place in the AFC South.

Both teams are coming into this one on short rest. Miami has lost three of its last four, but the schedule has been relatively kind as of late. The Dolphins are coming off two straight at home and have a tilt in Miami against the Jets up next. I don’t see any sort of weariness or look-ahead factor involved with this one. Houston is coming off two of its last three at home as well. They are coming off a bit of an emotional division win over the Jaguars and have a road game at Denver coming up next before a bye week. It seems like both teams are coming into this one on even footing on the short week. The road team has won the last two Thursday night games after the home team took the first five.

2. Who is healthy and who is getting the ball?

Both teams have their various nicks and bruises entering this one as you’d expect on a short week although the Dolphins have it much worse. They will be without wide receivers Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills while Danny Amendola was limited in practice on Monday. DeVante Parker will probably play after being inactive. Parker has just two catches this season and has to deal with a team that may or may not like him. His agent certainly thinks the wideout is healthy and can help out at that position. Ryan Tannehill also will miss another game, but he is expected to start throwing (a Nerf ball at least) this week. This means more Brock Osweiler who has one good game and one bad one so far.

Miami have been homebodies in their last two games, but they are heading out on Thursday. They will take on Houston at 8:20 p.m. The odds don’t look promising for Miami, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.

On Sunday, Miami came up short against Detroit, falling 21-32. A silver lining for Miami was the play of Brock Osweiler, who passed for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Houston might be getting used to good results now that the squad has four wins in a row. They walked away with a 20-7 win over Jacksonville. 20 seems to be a good number for Houston as the team scooped up a win with the same point total in their matchup last week.

Houston’s victory lifted them to 4-3 while Miami’s loss dropped them down to 4-3. In their victory, Houston relied heavily on Lamar Miller, who rushed for 100 yards and 1 touchdown. Miami will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.

This game marks the start of a three-game road trip for the Cavaliers. All three are on national TV, giving a healthier Cleveland team a great opportunity to show its legitimacy to many of the fans that have doubted them this season

Analysis: The Cavaliers are following their usual late March and early April routine. After spending most of the winter struggling, the Cavs are surging to a point where they can comfortably enter the playoffs with a high seed. They lost too many games early in the season to climb out of their hole completely, but they’re playing some good basketball right now.

The Nets are a different story. They’ve been playing bad basketball since January. Brooklyn started off the season with some hope that it could be spunky and steal enough wins to finish more in the middle of the East. Since the Nets don’t even have a draft pick, there’s no incentive to tank. They’re simply a bad basketball team.

There’s a possibility the matinee tip-off time throws the Cavs off, but this should be an easy win for LeBron and Co. These two teams are just in different places right now.
